OVERVIEW

Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) in Olathe, Kansas, is a thriving evangelical, college preparatory school serving 665

students from preschool through 12th grade. Rooted in its covenantal model and partnership with Redeemer Presbyterian

Church, HCA is dedicated to glorifying God by equipping students with academic excellence, strong Christian character,

and a biblical worldview. Families and faculty alike are deeply committed to Christ-centered discipleship, making HCA a

vibrant community of faith and learning.

The school is poised for a season of growth and renewal. With newly acquired land for a future high school building and

athletic facilities, HCA plans to expand capacity by 30% over the coming years, added a section to the elementary school

grades which will matriculate up. Students already benefit from rigorous academics, a strong dual credit and honors

program, an award-winning STEM initiative including robotics, a robust fine and performing arts program, and a thriving

athletics culture in which 75% of upper school students participate. HCA graduates are well-prepared for higher education,

consistently matriculating into selective universities while remaining grounded in their faith.

Amid this momentum, the next Upper School Principal will step into a role of significant influence and opportunity. The

community is eager for a leader of deep faith who combines relational presence with organizational clarity. The right

candidate will bring a shepherd’s heart alongside proven academic leadership, able to inspire faculty, disciple students,

and partner with parents. Strengths in strategic thinking, faculty development, and collaborative leadership will be key, as

will the ability to unite upper and lower campuses with clarity and vision. Beyond administrative competence, HCA seeks

a principal who will model joyful service, foster a culture of academic rigor rooted in Christ, and contribute to shaping the

future of a new high school campus.

Located in one of the fastest-growing regions of Kansas, HCA’s Olathe and Overland Park campuses sit within familyfriendly

communities that consistently rank among the best places to live in the U.S. The area offers affordable living,

excellent health care, and an abundance of recreational, cultural, and professional opportunities. With Kansas City just 20

minutes away, residents enjoy both small-town warmth and big-city amenities, from championship sports teams to a vibrant

arts scene.

For the right leader, this is more than a principalship—it is a calling to help shape a generation of students to impact the

world for Christ.

FOUNDATIONS

MISSION & VALUES

The mission of Heritage Christian Academy (HCA) is to glorify God by serving Christian parents and their children while

providing a high quality, Christ-centered educational program marked by academic excellence and the development of a

biblical worldview and strong Christian character.

GLORIFY GOD

HCA’s ultimate ambition is to glorify God, our Creator, Lord, and Savior. Everything done will flow from this

desire and be measured by this standard.

SERVING CHRISTIAN PARENTS & THEIR CHILDREN

HCA desires to support Christian parents in the discipleship of their children in the knowledge and love

of God. HCA does not aim to usurp parents’ responsibility to instill beliefs, morals, and attitudes in their

children. HCA will strongly reinforce biblically faithful beliefs and qualities.

HIGH QUALITY

HCA is committed to providing an educational program of the highest quality in every respect. As image

bearers of our Heavenly Father, HCA seeks to honor Him by giving Him their very best and diligently

pursuing growth in all God-given capacities.

CHRIST-CENTERED

It is HCA’s firm desire that Christ be preeminent in all they do and teach. All aspects of HCA are intentionally

designed to strengthen the relationships of students to Christ and His mission.

FOUNDATIONS

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Graduates of HCA consistently report that the education they received prepared them well for academic

and vocational success as well as faithful witness in contexts where biblical faithfulness is strongly tested.

BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW

Faithful disciples of Jesus Christ approach the world as Christ does, and this is learned from the study of

Scripture through disciplines including systematic, biblical, and applied theology. A biblical perspective is

integrated into every subject taught and every aspect of school life.

STRONG CHRISTIAN CHARACTER

"

Christian character not only finds its moral grounding in the Bible but finds its transformative power in the

work of the Holy Spirit on the consciences of those who embrace by faith Jesus as Lord and Savior. Only by

pointing students to Christ can their character be formed by Christ.

LET NO ONE DESPISE

YOU FOR YOUR

YOUTH, BUT SET

THE BELIEVERS AN

EXAMPLE

IN CONDUCT, IN

LOVE, IN FAITH, IN

- 1 TIMOTHY 4:12

FOUNDATIONS

IDENTITY

HCA is an evangelical Christian, college preparatory school in southern Johnson County, Kansas, for preschool through

12th grade students. As a ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church, HCA’s identity is defined by a particular set of beliefs

which in turn govern all goals, priorities, educational scopes, and approaches.

VISION

HCA’s vision is to see the world profoundly impacted by the gospel of Jesus Christ through generations of Heritage

graduates. In partnership with Christian families and churches, HCA is trusting the Lord to raise up thousands of students

who have found life in Jesus and been equipped to discern and follow His call wherever He leads them.

NAME

Because a school’s name is a primary representation of its identity, much thought and prayer went into the selection

process. The founders of HCA identified several characteristics that they wanted emphasized through its name:

• The conviction that children are a heritage from the Lord (Psalm 127:3).

• The desire to project the rich local heritage of faith of the churches that established Berean Christian School and

Westminster Christian Academy.

• The wish to honor the Christian heritage of our nation’s foundation.

• The vital importance of passing on the heritage of faith to our children as the Lord instructed His people in the book

of Deuteronomy:

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words

that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of

them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You

shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the

doorposts of your house and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:5-9).

FOUNDATIONS

HISTORY

HCA is a development created by two schools: Berean Christian School and Westminster Christian Academy. God graciously

allowed these two schools to come together to form a new identity in 2010.

COVENANT MODEL

HCA operates under a covenant model, coming alongside the home and church to train students to live the Christian life

and creating a distinctly Christian community where every student can thrive.

Every enrolled HCA family affirms our Statement of Faith and maintains active involvement in a local evangelical church.

This covenant commitment is not about exclusion—it’s about alignment.

When families, teachers, and church leaders share the same core beliefs, trust is built, discipleship deepens, and students

are surrounded by consistent spiritual guidance. Our goal is to foster a community where accountability is welcomed,

encouragement is mutual, and Christ is central to every relationship.

While ideally the Upper School Principal would worship at Redeemer Presbyterian, The Head of School is open to the right

candidate who may be already be involved in a different church or for other reasons may worship elsewhere.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

HCA’s identity, objectives, and approach are all rooted in a system of beliefs about the way things really are and ought

to be. As a ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church (PCA), HCA holds to the teaching more fully and completely laid

out in the Westminster Confessions and Catechisms, which we believe to be an accurate and systematic summary of the

Christian faith. HCA is committed to the following tenets of Christian doctrine:

GOD

The unity of God existing in

three persons, the Father,

the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God is the Creator, King,

Ruler, and Sustainer of

all things.

THE BIBLE

The divine inspiration and

inerrancy of Scripture in all

of its parts and teachings.

It is the supreme authority

over every area of our lives

as individuals and as

a church.

HUMANKIND

Man and woman as created

in the image of God, in

high dignity, yet now under

God’s condemnation

fortheir rebellion against

His good and just authority.

Since the Fall, we are both

guilty of and polluted by

sin, which has affected us

spiritually, intellectually,

psychologically, socially,

and physically.

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ, the eternal

Son of God, who became

fully human in order to

live a sinless life and die a

painful death in our place.

Through His life, death,

and bodily resurrection, He

accomplished a decisive

victory over sin and

established His Kingdom

among us.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The necessity of the work

of the Holy Spirit to make

the work of Christ effective

in the life of His elect. The

Spirit grants us repentance

toward God and faith in

Jesus Christ. We can escape

the penalty and power of

sin through faith in Christ

alone and not through any

goodness or moral effort of

our own.

LAST THINGS

The bodily resurrection and

the personal and triumphant

return of Jesus Christ to

earth for final judgment and

the consummation of

His Kingdom.

THE POSITION

Heritage Christian Academy seeks a spiritually mature, relational, and mission-driven leader to serve as the next Upper

School Principal. This is a strategic and spiritually significant role within a flourishing and growing school community

that holds fast to its covenantal Christian mission and its commitment to academic excellence. The next principal will

inherit a well-functioning team, a loyal faculty, and a student body eager for leadership that is both deeply pastoral and

academically inspiring.

After years of leadership transition and a season of growth, HCA is entering a season of renewal and forward movement.

The upper school enjoys stability in its teaching ranks, strong student culture, and clear alignment around the mission. The

community desires strong coordination between the lower and upper campuses, clarity in expectations and communication,

and steady leadership that promotes unity, academic rigor, and spiritual vitality.

The next Upper School Principal will be a person of deep faith—someone whose love for Jesus Christ is unmistakable and

who brings a shepherd’s heart to students, faculty, and families. A firm grasp of Christian education, particularly within a

Reformed framework, is essential. This person must possess the maturity to navigate complex relationships, the conviction

to make tough calls with grace and clarity, and the humility to lead as a servant. This is not merely a managerial role. It is a

calling to disciple, to encourage, to model truth in love, and to cast vision for a distinctly Christian academic environment

where students are challenged intellectually and supported spiritually.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following strengths:

ACADEMIC AND INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

Bring classroom and administrative experience, with a clear vision for academic excellence rooted in a biblical worldview.

Be equipped to guide departmental development, lead curricular evaluation, and inspire continuous improvement in both

STEM and the humanities. The principal should provide clear expectations, support teacher growth, and help shape HCA’s

academic program into one of clarity, consistency, and strength.

VISIBLE, PRESENT, AND RELATIONAL LEADERSHIP

Build trust with faculty, students, and families by showing up—at games, performances, chapels, lunches, and day-to-day

moments on campus. The principal should be known by name and known as a listener. Relational presence must be paired

with organizational competence, offering steady communication, clarity of process, and a consistent hand in day-to-day

school life.

SPIRITUAL MATURITY AND PASTORAL SENSITIVITY

Live out a vibrant and humble Christian faith. Model spiritual leadership, not just through chapel or formal prayer, but by

how they counsel, encourage, discipline, and relate. The principal should be a discipler—someone who builds up faculty

and students with love and truth, cultivates spiritual maturity, and encourages joyful faithfulness across the school.

THE POSITION

COLLABORATIVE AND EMPOWERING LEADERSHIP

Partner closely with the Head of School and other campus leaders while empowering department chairs and support staff.

Avoid micromanagement while maintaining accountability and excellence. This role requires a team builder who can offer

honest feedback, foster ownership, and lead with both empathy and clarity.

STRATEGIC THINKING AND ALIGNMENT

Support HCA’s long-term goals around facilities, programming, and growth by aligning the upper school’s systems and

culture with the broader strategic vision. Participate actively in shaping and implementing that vision, while ensuring

decisions are mission-aligned and community-informed. This will include having a significant impact on the planning,

design, and building of the new high school campus property adjacent to the current one.

CULTURAL FIT AND LONG-TERM INVESTMENT

Ideally, the next Upper School Principal will resonate deeply with HCA’s Reformed theological framework, embrace the

covenantal school model, and be willing to invest long-term in the life of the school. A natural fit with the school's culture

and a steady commitment to serve with integrity and humility will be key to sustained success.

THE POSITION

The current administrative team reporting to the Upper School Principal includes the Associate Principal, Athletic Director,

Fine Art Director, STEM Director, Department Chairs and MS &HS Faculty, Counselor, Director of College Guidance, and

QUALIFICATIONS

UPPER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

• Demonstrated vibrant and mature Christian faith and active involvement in a local church.

• Master’s degree in education leadership, or comparable, strongly preferred. A doctorate would be a plus.

• Proven experience in educational leadership, preferably 5+ years in an administrative role.

• Strong relational, organizational, and leadership skills.

• Excellent communication, emotional intelligence, collaboration and interpersonal abilities.

• Ability to inspire and motivate faculty, staff, and students.

• Understand, honor and embrace a reformed perspective on Christian Education.

EXPECTATIONS

Successful leadership in any educational institution is judged by how well its leader meets the expectations of its governing

body, meets the needs of its students, and responds to the input of its faculty, administration, parents, and other constituent

groups. In five years, the successful Upper School Principal will have:

• Established trust across faculty, families, and students as a spiritually grounded and

dependable leader.

• Maintained a presence at school events, modeled joyful service, and built a healthy,

cohesive team.

• Stewarded the growth of the school well as a third section matriculates through HCA.

• Elevated academic standards and improved faculty development and retention, achieving

exemplary status accreditation with ACSI.

• Strengthened programs in STEM, humanities, and student life to align with a robust Christian

worldview, increasing biblical literacy and maturity in students.

• United the lower and upper campuses through better communication and culture-building.

• Played a key role in HCA’s continued growth, both in size and in reputation, as a premier

Christian school in the region.

• Contributed significantly to the construction of the new high school campus adjacent to the

current property.
