CCS Overview
Carmel Christian School (CCS) in Matthews, North Carolina, one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S., is a college preparatory Christian
school serving over 1,100 students in kindergarten-12th grade. Founded in 1993 as a ministry of Carmel Baptist Church, CCS has developed
into a thriving educational community where discipleship, academic excellence, and holistic student development form the foundation of its
mission. The Elementary School, serving 511 students in kindergarten through 5th grade, provides a vibrant academic program led by deeply
committed and highly qualified faculty and staff. Faith and learning are fully integrated into every aspect of the curriculum and the school’s
discipleship opportunities, fostering both intellectual and spiritual growth.
CCS is seeking a Christ-centered, visionary leader to become the next Elementary School Principal. This leader will oversee a comprehensive
academic program, lead faculty, and guide students’ spiritual, academic, and personal development. Responsibilities include maintaining
a vibrant school culture, continuing to implement a standards-based instructional model and digital curriculum mapping technology, and
managing key operational tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and event planning. This leader is also expected to model the Christian faith,
mentor teachers, and build meaningful relationships with the school community to uphold CCS’s covenantal mission.
The CCS is blessed with enrollment growth, having added a fourth section to each Elementary School grade to meet enrollment demands. This
expansion has created opportunities for curriculum updates while requiring adjustments to manage faculty workloads and implement new
programs. With a focus on intentional discipleship, the Elementary School emphasizes spiritual development through biblically illuminated
instruction, a grace filled nurturing faculty, chapel programs, mission projects, and other faith-forming experiences. Enrichment opportunities
in arts, STEM, and world languages further support students as independent learners.
The ideal candidate will exemplify servant leadership, rooted in a vibrant Christian faith that aligns with the school’s covenantal mission and
family-oriented culture. They will illuminate biblical principles into their leadership while fostering spiritual growth among students, faculty,
and families. The candidate will be able to display a fun and positive energy with students while exercising accountability as necessary.
Prioritizing collaboration, they will inspire unity during this time of growth and change, navigating challenges with grace while maintaining
CCS’s traditions and advancing its mission of discipleship and academic excellence. Equipped to guide faculty and ensure high-quality
instruction, this leader will cultivate trust, foster cohesion, and champion CCS’s mission and values, ensuring the school thrives as a Christcentered
educational environment.
The next Elementary School Principal will help shape a Christ-centered academic program and foster a thriving, collaborative community of
students, families, and educators to provide an excellent education built on biblical truth which equips students to reflect Christ to the world.

CCS Statement of Faith
Carmel Baptist Church, as a ministry of Carmel Christian School, holds to the Statement of Faith adopted
by the Southern Baptist Convention and recorded in The Baptist Faith and Message. (View the complete
Statement here.)
THE SCRIPTURES
The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is the record of God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a
perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture
of error, for its matter. It reveals the principles by which God judges us; and therefore is, and will remain to the end
of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds and
religious opinions should be tried.
GOD
There is one, and only one living and true God. He is the Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth. God is infinite in
holiness. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence and obedience.
THE TRINITY
We believe that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;
equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
FALL OF MAN
Man was created by the special act of God, in His own image, and is the crowning work of His creation. In
the beginning, man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his
free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation
of Satan, man transgressed the command of God and fell from his original innocence; whereby
his posterity inherited a nature and an environment inclined towards sin, and as soon as they are
capable of moral action, become transgressors and are under condemnation.
MEDIATOR
We believe Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is the divinely appointed mediator
between God and man. Having taken upon Himself human nature, yet without sin, He perfectly
fulfilled the law, suffered and died upon the cross and ascended to His Father at whose right
hand He ever lives to make intercession for His people.
CHURCH
We believe that a visible church of Christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by
covenant in faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by His
laws and exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in them by His Word.
SALVATION
We believe salvation involves the redemption of the whole man and through grace, salvation is offered as a
free gift to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for
the believer.
5
CCS Statement of Faith
REGENERATION
Regeneration, or the new birth, is a word of God’s grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus.
It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through the conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds
in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Sanctification is the experience, beginning in
regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God’s purposes, and is enabled to progress toward moral and
spiritual perfection through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him.
GLORIFICATION
Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed. It is the
ultimate and complete salvation which shall be realized in heaven.
BAPTISM
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It
is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk
in newness of life in Christ Jesus.
THE LORD’S DAY
The first day of the week is the Lord’s Day. It is a Christian institution for regular observance. It commemorates the
resurrection of Christ from the dead and should be employed in exercises of worship and spiritual devotion.
SOCIAL ORDER
All Christians are under obligation to seek to make the will of Christ supreme in our lives and in human society. In
the Spirit of Christ, Christians should oppose racism, every form of greed, selfishness, and vice and all forms of
sexual immorality, including adultery, homosexuality, and pornography. Christians should speak on behalf of the
unborn and contend for the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.
FAMILY
God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related
to one another by marriage, blood, or adoption. Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in a covenant
commitment for a lifetime.
THE RESURRECTION
We believe the bodies of man after death return to dust, but their spirits return immediately to God, to rest with
Him; the wicked to be reserved under the darkness of judgment. At the last day, the bodies of all the dead, both
just and unjust, will be raised.
THE JUDGMENT
We believe that the end of the world is approaching, that at the last day Christ will descend from heaven, and raise
the dead from the grave to final retribution; that a solemn separation will take place; that the wicked will be judged
to endless punishment and the righteous to endless joy; and that this judgment will fix forever the final state of men
in heaven or hell, on principles of righteousness.

CCS History
CCS was launched in 1993 when a group of Carmel WEE School families expressed a desire to continue their children’s education at Carmel
Baptist Church beyond the preschool years. With the prayerful obedience of the WEE School Director, 4 teachers, and 29 kindergarten
students and families, the Lord established Carmel Christian School.
From 1993 to 2001, the Lord added to the CCS ministry, bringing new families and a new grade level each year, culminating with the opening
of the high school in 2010. Today, CCS celebrates over 25 years of transformational education, from the foundational days of two kindergarten
classes, to a dynamic K-12 college preparatory that impacts over 1,100 students each year. The CCS story reflects a passion for intentional
discipleship as God faithfully continues His good work through CCS today.

CCS Elementary School Programs
The Elementary School Program spans kindergarten-5th grade, serving 511 students in four classes per grade level.
Discipleship
Discipleship is at the very heart of Carmel Christian School - learning what it means to follow Jesus and reflect Him to the world. CCS’s goal
is to equip students with missions and disciple-making experiences so that when they leave CCS, they will impact their world for Christ both
locally and globally. For an overview of the CCS Discipleship Strategy here.
• Chapel Experience - Chapel is a focused and integral part of each student’s experience
at CCS. Worship, relevant teaching, and follow-up small group discussion support and
strengthen their Christian Worldview. Students study God’s Word, worship together, pray,
and learn how to love and build one another up as taught in Scripture.
• Connexion Week - This is a spiritual emphasis week that serves as a catalyst for spiritual
growth early in the second semester to encourage CCS students in their walk with Christ.
• Serve/Mission - Missions are a part of the CCS lifestyle. Each class participates in a
mission project during the school year. Students have the opportunity to participate in
local missions.
Academics
Discipleship (teaching and examples) are integrated throughout each academic subject. The
academic experience in kindergarten-2nd grade is where the love of learning is nurtured
in CCS students. Using a multi-sensory approach, learning is focused on discovery and
developing foundational skills. Teachers differentiate instruction to guide students to reach
their full potential and encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning. The
academic experience in 3rd-5th grades provides new opportunities for students to grow and
develop as independent thinkers. Learning is viewed as a continuum of the kindergarten-
2nd grade experience and expands into deeper understandings of these foundational skills.
As teachers continue to differentiate instruction, students are empowered to rely on their
independence and executive functioning skills to take their learning to the next level.

CCS Elementary School Programs
Enrichment Opportunities
In addition to core academic studies, students engage in enrichment opportunities that extend beyond the classroom to include connections
to the arts, world language, STEM experiences, and movement. These experiences are enhancements that are connected to classroom
instruction and provide meaningful learning experiences for all kindergarten-5th grade students. A love for the arts is cultivated during
elementary school experience. Kindergarten-4th grade students participate in music and art classes. During 5th grade, visual art instruction
continues, and students have the opportunity to express themselves in choir and creative arts. Students experience musical expression and
performance opportunities during the school day and if they choose may participate in the 5th grade musical.
Pathways
Pathways is an educational program that supports students and their families through a variety of services including developing individual
student service plans, academic intervention, advanced seminars, international student support, speech and language services occupational
therapy, and tutoring. Assisting families through consultation and collaboration to maximize a child’s potential is the primary focus.
