Many have contributedso that The Search For Significance couldbe produced. I want to especially single out mystaff, whose great dedication to the spreading ofthese truths is immeasurable. INTRODUCTIONWhen Christ told His disciples,"You shall knowthe truth and the truth shall set you free" (John8:32), He wasn't referring only to an intellectualassent to the truth. He was referring to the applicationof truth in the most basic issues of life: ourgoals, our motives, and our sense of self-worth.Unfortunately, many of us give only lip-service tothe powerful truths of the Scriptures without allowingthem to radically affect the basis of ourself-worth. Instead, we continue to seek our securityand purpose from the world's sources: personalsuccess, status, beauty, wealth, and the approvalof others. These may fulfill for a shorttime, but soon they lead to a sense of urgency tosucceed and be approved again.To meet these compelling needs, we are drivento succeed, we do virtually anything to make peoplehappy with us, and we spend countless hoursand dollars trying to look "just right." Also, weavoid situations and people where the risk of failureand rejection is too high. It's a rat race thatcan't be won by simply running faster. We need toget off the hopeless treadmill and learn to applythe foundational truths that can set us free andmotivate us to live for Christ.Christ's death paid the penalty for our sins, andHis resurrection gives us new life, new goals, andnew hope. He has given us complete security andchallenging purpose that are not based on our
